When Toh Yong Hong completed special school, his mother was at a loss as to what to plan for his future.
That’s when Yong Hong’s mother brought him to Bizlink Centre in 2004. After the assessment, Yong Hong was recommended for the training course which was then known as The Vocational School for the Handicapped (VSH). It was a two- year work-based training program based on ITE curriculum. The first year is school based and the 2nd year would be the job attachment in the industry.
After Yong Hong completed his first year in VSH, Bizlink’s Placement Officer matched him with an employer who took him for the job attachment. He was placed in warehousing work and there were many things for him to learn and to develop his skills.
Yong Hong was hard working, punctual in his attendance and eager to learn. Both the manager and staff were very supportive in training him. After a year of training, Yong Hong was found by the employer to be suitable for the work he was trained. The company offered him full time employment after he completed his job attachment.
Yong Hong accepted the offer without hesitation. He has been happy and satisfied that the course he had taken has given him the opportunity to be gainfully employed.
He mentioned that his mother was happy with the company that offered him the job.
